Matcha Mornings: Exploring Healing Modalities with Kay Hutchison

You are here: Home / Matcha Mornings / Matcha Mornings: Exploring Healing Modalities with Kay Hutchison

October 27, 2020 //  by WanderBarn

This week on the podcast, Amanda is joined by Kay Hutchison. Kay is the author of My Life in Thirty Seven Therapies detailing her experience of embarking on a solo journey of self-discovery and healing.

On her journey she tried everything from colonic irrigation to cupping and reiki to reflexology. In this episode, we talk about how Kay found yoga during a very challenging time and her experience with a wide range of healing modalities.

We go over some of the experiences that were most impactful for Kay and what healing modalities she would recommend others try during the challenging time that we’re going through right now.

Enjoy!

Discussed in this episode:

  • How Kay started working in television
  • How Kay found yoga as a way to make it through a difficult time in life
  • What led Kay to explore different healing modalities and why yoga stood out
  • Listening to your body and giving yourself permission to tune in to your feelings
  • Why mental health is often overlooked, especially during moments of crisis
  • The healing benefits of sonic therapies and silent meditation
    • Kay mentions:
      • Liz Addison Music https://www.lisaddison.com/
      • Gong baths
      • Vipassana Meditation
  • The pros and cons of practicing yoga from home, online, and in-person
  • Why you can find a lot of the benefits of massage doing it yourself or with a partner
  • How Kay defines therapy and why we should think of it more broadly than we often do
  • Doing a shamanic retreat in the Sahara desert
  • And much more… Here’s the link!
