Matcha Mornings Episode 6: “Meet Your Hormones”: A Chapter from “In the Flo” by Alisa Vitti

You are here: Home / Matcha Mornings / Matcha Mornings Episode 6: “Meet Your Hormones”: A Chapter from “In the Flo” by Alisa Vitti

March 24, 2020 //  by Amanda Kingsmith

This week on Matcha Mornings, Amanda is reading a chapter from Alisa Vitti’s new book, “In the Flo”. This section of the book is called “Meet Your Hormones”, and you will do just that. We will go through the different hormones that impact our monthly cycle, and then dive into the different systems in our body that are impacted by a hormonal imbalance (hint: it’s not just your endocrine system). This section also talks about how to bring these systems into harmony and balance, and how, as women, we can be more productive and healthy when we come into alignment with the natural rhythms and flows of our cycles.

Discussed in this Episode:

  • The hormones that you need to know about in your endocrine system
  • POWR – Prepare, Open Up, Work, Rest and how it links to each phase of your menstrual cycle
  • Prepare = Follicular Phase
  • Open Up = Ovulatory Phase
  • Work = Luteal Phase
  • Rest = Menstrual Phase
  • What our monthly bleed can tell us about our hormone health
  • Find out what your period is telling you about your hormone health here
  • How your hormones impact your brain, your immune system, your metabolism, your microbiome, and your stress response
  • Manifesto for healthy hormones and healthy cycles
  • And much more… Here’s the episode!

This episode was read from “In the Flo” by Alisa Vitti. You can get a copy of the full book here!

I am excited to be partnered with Muse! Muse is a wearable device in the form of a headband that senses the electrical rhythms of the brain (EEG). The headband is coupled with a smartphone app that monitors the user’s brain electrical activity and gives immediate feedback so that a “calm” or meditative pattern can be achieved.
