On this episode, Lori shares her journey with holistic health and wellness, what has made her passionate about sharing holistic practices and teachings with her clients, what it means to live a holistic life, tips for bringing holistic practices into your day-to-day life, and much more.

Enjoy!

Discussed in this Episode:

  • How Lori got passionate about health and wellness
  • Lori found out that she was pre-diabetic and her cholesterol was high, and she was already struggling with her weight
  • When the doctor wanted to put Lori on medication, she decided to make some changes in her life!
  • By cutting out meat and practicing yoga, Lori was able to get her cholesterol down
  • After practicing yoga for a number of years, Lori decided she wanted to teach yoga and share the practice with other people, hoping that they would be able to resonate with the teachings
  • Lori dove deep into learn about health, wellness, and food and she never planned to create a business
  • Lori connected with her body, her mind and the food she was eating to start her holistic journey
  • Holistic Health isn’t just about the food you eat though. It’s also about how much you move your body, connecting with nature, how the energy flows in your relationships, how you sleep, how much water you drink, your finances, and the stress that taxes your nervous system.
  • Breath is one of the best ways to calm down your nervous system
  • What Lori does with her business, The Weight of Joy
  • Everything is connected! Your digestion is so important and it connects to so many other parts of your life. This is the same with so many other systems and organs in your body!
  • When it comes to your body, it’s important to practice accepting and loving your body as it is. We should not feel shame because we have stretch marks or cellulite or thighs! These things are beautiful and make us who we are.
  • When you shift your mindset, the weight will come off. When you shift your mindset, you will want to move and exercise and practice yoga. This all begins with the mindset shift and being okay with who you are and the state you are in currently.
  • We shouldn’t do movement and exercise to change or manipulate our bodies or because we hate our bodies. We should workout because we love our bodies!
  • It’s important to appreciate your body and be grateful for what it can do because you never know when you may lose that ability
  • The little things add up over time! Take little steps every day and stay consistent.
  • How to find a yoga studio that you feel comfortable with if you’ve never really practiced yoga before
  • When you start practicing yoga, start off small! You don’t have to start off with a 60-minute class right off the get go.
  • And much more… Here’s the episode!
