You are here: Home / Matcha Mornings / Matcha Mornings: Boosting Your Immune System Naturally with Lindsey Williams

April 28, 2020 //  by WanderBarn

This week on the podcast, Amanda is joined by Lindsey Williams. Lindsey is a yoga teacher, a movement teacher, and an osteopath student with a background in nutrition.

On this episode, Lindsey shares tools for boosting your immune system naturally, including cold water dips, hydration, sleep, diet, vitamins, movement and more. She also shares tips for minimizing stress on the adrenal glands, particularly during the current global pandemic that we are in.

Enjoy!

Discussed in this Episode:

  • Who Lindsey is and how she got interested in health and wellness
  • Shifting your mindset as food as fuel and how it can help you do the things you love in your life
  • Lindsey’s philosophy on health and our immune system
  • Our body has the tools to fight off viruses and diseases when it’s in homeostasis, but a lot of what we do day-to-day throws us out of homeostasis
  • When it comes to your immune system, you can look at the things you can do to bring your body back into balance so that it can fight off sickness
  • Some of Lindsey’s practices for immunity are: cold water immersion and looking at the stress on the nervous system
  • Lindsey has been doing more of an intentional breath and meditation practice during the pandemic
  • Family meditations are a great way to ground everyone and can be very supportive for the adrenals and the immune system
  • Hydration is hugely important when it comes to making sure your immune system stays strong
  • Sleep is one of the biggest things we can do to support the nervous system
  • We need to be gracious with ourselves in this process – we don’t need to be perfect all the time
  • Listen to your body and understand where your desires, cravings, and wants come from
  • Understand your stress response and pay attention to how you react to stress
  • It’s important to move your body every day in some shape or form
  • When it comes to nutrition, make sure you are getting your greens in some way!
  • More of a focus on protein and healthy fats, as well as intermittent fasting
  • Intermittent fasting can help with inflammation in the body and can help with bringing your body back into homeostasis
  • You can still enjoy baking and treats while maintaining balance in your body and your life
  • Lindsey’s personal practices with vitamins and supplements
  • We can get a lot of the vitamins and minerals that we need through variation in our diet
  • And much more… Here’s the episode!

I am excited to be partnered with Muse! Muse is a wearable device in the form of a headband that senses the electrical rhythms of the brain (EEG). The headband is coupled with a smartphone app that monitors the user’s brain electrical activity and gives immediate feedback so that a “calm” or meditative pattern can be achieved.
